The main applications of normalizing are as follows:① For low carbon steel, 09CuPCrNi-A stel tensile strength. The hardness of low carbon steel after normalizing is slightly higher than that after annealing, and the toughness is also better, so normalizing can be used as the pretreatment of cutting.② For medium carbon steel, normalizing can be used as the final heat treatment instead of quenching and tempering treatment, or as the preparation treatment before surface quenching by induction heating.③ Normalizing can be used in tool steel, bearing steel, carburizing steel and so on, which can eliminate or inhibit the formation of network carbide, thus obtaining the good microstructure needed for spheroidizing annealing.④ Normalizing can refine the cast structure and improve the machinability of steel castings.
The strengthening mechanisms in metals mainly include solid solution strengthening, dislocation strengthening, fine grain strengthening, and second phase (precipitation and dispersion) strengthening. Alloying elements have the most significant strengthening effect on steel in the quenched and tempered state, because it makes full use of all four strengthening mechanisms. Martensite is formed during quenching, and carbides are precipitated during tempering, resulting in a strong second phase strengthening and greatly improving toughness. Therefore, obtaining martensite and tempering it is the most economical and effective comprehensive strengthening method for 09CuPCrNi-A stel tensile strength.
Weathering steel generally adopts the process route of fine material into the furnace-smelting (converter, electric furnace-microalloying treatment-argon blowing-LF refining-low superheat continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire)-controlled rolling and cooling. The scrap steel is added into the furnace together with the charge, and smelted according to the conventional process. After the 09CuPCrNi-A stel tensile strength steel is tapped, deoxidizers and alloys are added. After the molten steel is treated with argon blowing, the molten steel is cast. By adding rare earth elements to the steel, the 09CuPCrNi-A stel tensile strength weathering steel is purified and the content of inclusions is greatly reduced.
